Since February 18th I’ve been counting down the days until this shoot. That’s when some dear friends I met in Switzerland last summer emailed saying they’d be out here visiting family and wanted to do some portraits!
Well after weeks and weeks of anxiously waiting the day finally came! (and so did some swiss chocolate that I promptly inhaled) This shoot was sooo much fun, just as I knew it would be. Irene & Joerg are always a blast!! This time with them was especially neat to me as they shared with me the details of “their story”. How they came across one another several years after they’d initially met. Upon first meeting, they immediately had feelings for eachother but the feelings were kept to themselves as they lived in different countries. She gave him her address and hoped to hear from him and he sent postcards hoping to hear back but somehow the postcards weren’t received and therefore they weren’t returned and each figured the other wasn’t interested in them. So you can imagine their excitement to have a bit of a chance encounter one Easter weekend several years later. After being reunited and just a week or so of hanging out they knew they didn’t want to live another day without each other and that was that. Unbelievable right!?! I can’t wait for their movie to come out! ; )
It’s been several years since that time but you wouldn’t know it when you’re around them as they’re as affectionate and in love as ever! It’s really a beautiful thing to be in the presence of. It was my goal to capture they’re warm fun personalities as well as that love they feel for each other. I couldn’t be happier with these images…unless I was in Switzerland when I took them. I guess I’ll just have to go back!
Oh my gosh I’m so obsessed with these right now I can’t stand it! I’ve been wanting to do a shoot like this for awhile now where it’s an intimate in-home setting but there are always so many issues to consider – having enough light, space, the right decor, etc. Well the stars were all aligned for this shoot and it was amazing! Starting with the beautiful mom-to-be being a PERFECT subject to photograph. Add an immaculately decorated home and tons of huge windows offering an abundance of natural light and voila! I feel like Heather Locklear was expecting and I was hired by Vogue to get a spread of images for an interview they have with her about the pregnancy. Thank you Brittany for giving me some of my favorite images of all time!
So I know this isn’t a legit photo shoot picture but I can’t not share it and I’m not too old for “show and tell” right?
So…we were getting the girls ready for bath time and as they excitedly stood there watching the tub fill up I made a mad dash for my camera and am so glad I did. This moment is perfection. Say, with her rain boots still on -just standing there poking her bum and G, holding her toy whale ready for some bath time fun. Ahhhh, I could just die! I know I’m an overly obsessed aunt but are these not the cutest little bums you’ve ever seen!!
This week I met a family I was truly inspired and touched by. After several months in Ethiopia waiting out the adoption process the Bambricks were finally able to bring their son and daughter home and as you can see, home for these little ones is wherever their mom and dad are. I swear when I was taking pictures of the four of them together, getting the babies to look at me and smile was a little bit of work. Whereas when we were doing solo shots and they could see their parents or be held by their parents, the smiles were free flowing and nonstop. The love existing in this family not only transcends blood and dna but thrives and inspires. Thank you Bambricks for sharing with me the beauty that is your family.
This week I was craving some pigtails on this sweet girl. Once they were in it was clearly time to start snapping. I thought I’d share a few favorites of my pigtailed princess. Simple yet stunning.
